What is Copper Vandalism?
Copper vandalism is the deliberate damaging or destruction of copper cables to steal the copper wires. Thieves often target crucial infrastructure like telecommunications cables, electrical lines, and plumbing. In their act of vandalism, Fibre lines can also be damaged but are less likely to be impacted than copper lines.
How does it affect you and your community?
- Loss of connection: No phone, no internet, no emergency calls
- Disruption of daily life: Families cannot reach loved ones, students cannot log into online classes or conduct research
- Wider community impact: It affects businesses, health care services, financial transactions, safety and security and more
- One selfish act can cause scores of silent consequences.
